What is the NBA trade deadline?
The last moment in the regular season at which teams can trade players. Deals must be reported to the league office by the deadline; after it, rosters change only through free-agent signings, buyouts and two-way or 10-day contracts until the offseason.
When is the 2027 NBA trade deadline?
The 2027 NBA trade deadline is Thursday, February 11, 2027, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time.
Can NBA teams trade after the deadline?
No. After the deadline teams can only sign free agents, including players released in buyouts, until the end of the regular season. Trading reopens after the NBA Finals.
What time is the NBA trade deadline?
Trades must be agreed and reported to the league by 3:00 PM ET on deadline day. Deals are often announced a little after the hour while the league processes them.
What is the buyout market?
After the deadline, players released by their teams (often in a buyout of their contract) can sign with contenders. A player must be waived by March 1 to be eligible for the playoffs with his new team.
